Items on waiting list

1) Children table and chairs from IKEA

MAMMUT children table - $55.00

MAMMUT children chair - $19.00

Actually I spotted this table from the internet. This table would have been ideal but I bet the price would be also very ATTRACTIVE!! LOL

EasyAdjust™ Play Table from Little Tikes

Height is adjustable and quite a few storage too!

2) Stool from IKEA - 2pcs

Need this when bathing J and Wasabi. So ideally to get 2pcs so I can put one each in both toilets

FÖRSIKTIG children stool (Blue) - $3.90

3) Highchair from IKEA - 1pc

J has stopped sitting in his combi highchair for quite awhile. He switched to the portable booster seat, a gift from Aunty Jeanette and Dorothy for his full month.

But I realise our dinning chair might not be suitable to secure his booster seat. So we either get a chair specially to secure his booster seat or get this highchair.

Getting the highchair would be a more cost saving and fuss free choice right? *wink*

ANTILOP highchair with tray - $29.00

Don't think we need the tray coz we prefer J to eat on the same table with us.

4) Shoe rack

Spotted two from IKEA website

The more expensive choice:
LOGGA N shoe rack 90cm - $35.00

The cheaper choice:
LUSTIFIK hat or shoe rack - $8.90

5) Storage box

Can used for J's toys etc...

APA N Storage box - $29.00

Recently there's 'roadshow' selling the storage box cum stool. I think those will be better even if it's smaller than the storage box from IKEA. Coz I can get more than 1 box (the large ones cost about $12 each) rather than dumping everything into a big storage box!

6) Laundry bag

We have been using this from IKEA. Cheap and good. Probably need to get more than one. Coz need to separate clothes and there's 3 of us :P

JÄLL laundry bag with stand - $5.90

7) Drying rack

Again, there's two types:

The more expensive one:
ANTONIUS folding clothes dryer - $59.00

And there's the cheaper and more affordable one:
FROST drying rack, floor - $19.00

I didn't get to see ANTONIUS folding clothes dryer - $59.00 when we went to IKEA to check out the items. Only spotted this when I was surfing the website.

Anyway, we do have a drying rack but it's too big when open up. So it's more suitable if I want to dry the clothes along the common corridor instead of in the kitchen!

8) SUNE bar stool from IKEA - 2pcs

We don't need adjustable bar stool. Tried this bar stool from IKEA and quite comfortable unless my backside grow bigger! hahaha

SUNE bar stool - $25.00

9) Metal Shelving for our storeroom

Initially we saw the one at Vhive when they having their promotion but the rack still cost around $159 except that they throwing fee delivery.

Then I remember seeing such shelving at either DIY or GIANT.

So this is the one we are considering of getting

10) Book shelf

Anyone got any good lobang for bookshelf like the one from IKEA?

There's cheaper one that I saw from Carrefour. Probably need to get more than one since this is much smaller. Yet to see the actual item so can't gauge how stable is it.

Carrefour CFS01 Open bookcase Dim W425 x D 290 x x H890mm
Original Price is $19.90
Offer Price is $13.90 ends today! haha

Maybe there's better deal from those neighborhood furniture shop!! *wink wink*

Items pending for confirmation

We set our eyes but yet to confirm our purchase for these items

Toilet accessories

1) Toilet bowls (Master and common toilets)

If not for our ID, I would know there's different types of toilet bowl! haha...She even suggested us to sit on it and feel. shy

Hb said to him, it's the same lah...Actually I have never 'tested' any toilet bowl in all my life! haha...Anyway, there's two types: one mould and separate mould.

Usually the one mould type will be more costly and some go for this type coz since it's one mould, there's no leakage from the water tank. Disadvantage would be that if it's only the seat that crack or whatsoever, the whole thing has to be replaced!

Hb left me to decide and I set my eyes on this..it's one mould type

This is for both master and common toilets.

2) Master toilet's basin

This is the only one, I think so, that comes with the rack. Actually I didn't know that the rack comes with the basin until Hb mentioned and that's after we decided on this basin. So, not bad hor!

3) Common toilet's basin

We wanted to match with a similar design with our master toilet's basin. So this is the only one that catch our attention.

Hmm...come to think about it, this design is the 'old fashion' type loh. And I wondering if we need this big (actually it's almost the regular size) basin. Coz common toilet rarely used.

4) Shower heater (Master and common toilets)

Hb don't use heater but J, myself and occasionally Wasabi do use the heater. haha...

Conincidently, now I realised that the heater color (RED AND YELLOW) can match our bathroom wall tiles!!! We just confirmed our tiles selection this week and toileries shopping was about a week ago.

Weekly shopping for our new place...CONFIRMED ITEMS

We have been shopping whenever we can to check out prices and things (furniture, lightings, electrical items etc).

Pretty tiring but we enjoying every moments coz it's the things we are choosing for our home.

We are almost done with our shopping except for some electrical items.

These are our purchase..and I can't wait to see how is it like after putting all the items together. Hopefully everything will compliment each other and the flat will be so nicely done up!!

1) L-shaped sofa from Seahorse

We had a 'hard time' sourcing for our ideal sofa. Coz we hope to fit into a corner of our living so that we can have a bigger play area for J in the living hall.

Most of the sofas we saw were too long. If we get the longer ones, then the orientation of the furniture will be pretty much the same as what we did previous. Anyway, we were so glad that seahorse was having this promotion and we finally set our eyes on this set of sofa!!

I like this lilac color but on the practical side, it's more sensible to get a darker shade: CHOCOLATE. The sales person told us that the color would be similar to Calbury Chocolate bar. haha

2) TV Console from A-Star Furniture

The same problem as the sofa, most TV console are too long. We need one that's less than 2metre. Ideally, less than 1.8metre so that there's allowance between the wall.

We almost gave up hope and had requested our contractor to help customize one for us. But who know this TV console just appear! haha. Coz we went to another branch but NOTHING interest us at all. So we were so surprise coz over at IMM, we managed to purchase some items!

Best part is the color is also chocolate aka brown! Now, hopefully it's the same, if not similar, shade as our sofa.

3) Dinning Table from A-Star Furniture

This was not our original kind of dinning table. Originally, we were thinking of round glass table like this one (below) we saw from IKEA. Coz it's simple, the size is just right for our dinning area and our family size.

But we went to many places. None selling such dinning table with this size. Infact, we noticed that rounded glass table is not so common.

We thought we will just buy from IKEA and this table is not so expensive too. But Hb pointed out that we don't have any transport for this table. So if we do buy from IKEA, we will have to pay for the transport and assemble fee. Then I thought to myself, if after adding all the extra charges, then might not be so worth buying coz THERE ARE NO CHAIRS that comes with the table. What we see at the furniture shop, all their pricing comes with chairs!

Ok, so we change our ideal table to this!!! Still very nice and simple right?!! LOL

The original chairs are the grey ones on the right of the picture. We tried and they were not that comfortable. The sales person said we are allowed to change the chairs either with the same value or just top up the difference if we getting the more expensive ones.

Hb saw the white ones from the nearby dinning set. We tried and we both agreed on the same chair. So we confirmed the dinning set with black chairs.

4) 'Donut' chair from A-Star Furniture

Spotted this little red chair and the white one in the background at children's furniture. I thought it will be nice to get one for J and he can have his own chair too!

He was still napping when we spotted this chair so we had to wait for him to wake up. Reason why is that we want to make sure he likes this chair too. Anyway, it's for him. So best to let him choose.

Initially I quite like the white one. But Hb mentioned that it's quite dangerous as it might topple over which I also agreed with him. So I was hoping that J likes the red one too.

He woke up and he too preferred the red one. I convinced him to sit and try and he just tell us that 'This one, referring to the red donut chair, nice...that one, referring to the white chair, not nice' haha.

So needless to say, we got him the red 'donut' chair!!!

5) 42" Philips Flat Screen from COURTS

Ok, we were abit kiasu when we purchased this TV. But then, it's on OFFER leh!! This is the very 1st item that we got for our home! haha...

Anyway, we didn't regret buying so early coz so far, after weeks of shopping, we still didn't see other good deal compared to what we gotten.

What I like about this TV is that there's a sensored light which will dim the TV light setting if we watching in a darker room (meaning we didn't turn on our living room's lights). Think it will be less straining to our eyes though it's still not recommended to do often lah.

6) Toilet accessories

If not for our ID, I would know there's different types of toilet bowl! haha...She even suggested us to sit on it and feel. shy

Hb said to him, it's the same lah...Actually I have never 'tested' any toilet bowl in all my life! haha...Anyway, there's two types: one mould and separate mould.

Hb left me to decide and I set my eyes on this..it's one mould type

This is for both master and common toilets.

Master toilet's basin

This is the only one, I think so, that comes with the rack. Actually I didn't know that the rack comes with the basin until Hb mentioned and that's after we decided on this basin. So, not bad hor!

Common toilet's basin

Hmm...come to think about it, this design is the 'old fashion' type loh. And I wondering if we need this big (actually it's almost the regular size) basin. Coz common toilet rarely used.

Mixed feelings

Today is the day we getting back our house keys.

It's a mixed feelings.

Happy coz finally things are getting started. Renovation will be starting soon.

Kinda scare and worried coz it will be just Hb, J, Wasabi and me! haha....If Hb is away, then it's just ME 'against' J and Wasabi. :P

Well, I trust that Hb and myself will have to work it out between the two of us. If not, just like what Tim from Project Runway, MAKE IT WORK! LOL...

Anyway, we brought J along with us. Afterall, this will be his home too! So I was thinking to let him 'preview' his future home first! haha....

He had a great time running around even though there's still furniture in the flat. Hb was trying to clean up the place coz it's quite dirty. But our dear boy can't sit still even though his papa had turned on the aircon in one of the rooms so that we can stay in there to enjoy.

Nothing can stop our boy from running out. Coz he knows how to turn the knobs. Another thing that he learnt is to open the baby gate even though we lock it. So we will have to do without baby gate once we move it. Coz it won't be serving the purpose anyway.

Oh, did I mention that J poo there and I started to panick as I was concern he might not want to do and make a fuss coz there's no potty. This boy just surprised me. Coz when I told him there's no potty, he simply said 'toilet bowl'! LOL

There, it was his very first time pooing into toilet bowl. And since there's no children seat available. I had to hold him while he do his 'business' there. Good thing was, it's a quick one!

Both Hb and me are so excited and looking forward to our 'new' home! Infact, Hb commented that we didn't even feel this way when we first move in. :P

First Ucler

Date: 11 June 2009

I noticed that he didn't eat well and if he does, he will eat slower than usual. That's when I noticed his ucler. I can't remember that he got ucler before so I guess this should be his first time.

Here's another clear pic of his ucler

Even though I didn't apply any medication, it healed pretty fast!

INVALUABLE advice

Take 2 minutes and read through this; you will be amazed at what you can learn!

Bed Sheets
After drying sheets, put both sheets and one pillowcase in the other pillow case. Fold neatly in a square. Next time you change sheets, you just take the one pillow case and all the sheets and pillow case are inside. No need to look for matches.
Reheat Pizza

Heat up leftover pizza in a non-stick skillet on top of the stove, set heat to med-low and heat till warm. This keeps the crust crispy.  No soggy micro pizza. I saw this on the cooking channel and it really works.
Reheating refrigerated bread

To warm biscuits, pancakes, or muffins that were refrigerated, place them in a microwave with a cup of water. The increased moisture will keep the food moist and help it reheat faster.
Broken Glass

Use a dry cotton ball to pick up little broken pieces of glass - the fibers catch ones you can't see!
Easier thank you's

When you throw a bridal/baby shower, buy a pack of thank you cards for the guest of honor. During the party, pass out the envelopes and have everyone put their address on one. When the bride/new mother sends the thank you's, they're all addressed!
Name tag

If you purchase a new bike for your child, place their picture inside the handle bar before placing the grips on. If the bike is stolen and later recovered, remove the grip and there is your proof who owns the bike.
Flexible vacuum

To get something out of a heat register or under the fridge add an empty paper towel roll or empty gift wrap roll to your vacuum. It can be bent or flattened to get in narrow openings.
Reducing Static Cling

Pin a small safety pin to the seam of your slip and you will not have a clingy skirt or dress. Same thing works with slacks that cling when wearing panty hose. Place pin in seam of slacks and -- voila -- static is gone.
Measuring Cups

Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup, fill it with hot water. Dump out the hot water, but don't dry the cup. Next, add your ingredient, such as peanut butter, and watch how easily it comes right out.
Foggy Windshield?

Hate foggy windshields? Buy a chalkboard eraser and keep it in the glove box of your car. When the windows fog, rub with the eraser!
Works better than a cloth!
Reopening envelope

If you seal an envelope and then realize you forgot to include something inside, just place your sealed envelope in the freezer for an hour or two. Voila! It unseals easily.
Conditioner

Use your hair conditioner to shave your legs. It's a lot cheaper than shaving cream and leaves your legs really smooth. It's also a great way to use up the conditioner you bought but didn't like when you tried it in your hair...
Good-bye Fruit Flies

To get rid of pesky fruit flies, take a small glass fill it 1/2 with Apple Cider Vinegar and 2 drops of dishwashing liquid, mix well. You will find those flies drawn to the cup and gone forever!
Get Rid of Ants

Put small piles of cornmeal where you see ants. They eat it, take it 'home,' & can't digest it so it kills them. It may take a week or so, esp. if it rains, but it works & you don't have the worry about pets or small children being harmed!
Take baby powder to the beach

Keep a small bottle of baby powder in your beach bag. When you're ready to leave the beach sprinkle yourself and kids with the powder and the sand will slide right off your skin.

Have you learnt something today?

Upgraded!! No more training pants!

Date 11 June 2009

The toilet training went smoothly!! Heng, there's not much mess or accidents. I guess J was well prepared for the toilet training to start. For now, he's on diaper only during the naps and bedtime. Still thinking of how to train him off diaper for naps and bedtime. Any suggestions?? Coz scardy cat mommy is worry about him wetting the bed. Guess I should head to Ikea to buy the waterproof sheet and start him on naps first! :P

Anyway he got upgraded to underwear very very fast! haha....

This is his very first pair that he worn!!

This looked very cute on his butt but I don't think I want to post after reading the recently report on a guy posting young girls' pics on his blog. Don't wish that anyone abuse with J's pic. Maybe from now onwards, I would be more selective on posting the pics. For a moment, I was thinking of setting my blog to private. Well, I am still thinking....but for now, it's still accessible to all! :)
